Open call for Writers

Six days in Galicia. Twenty writers. One fanzine that wouldn’t exist without you.

What this is really about

You scroll. You like. You forget.

That’s how most content works now. Fast, shallow, gone in a week. And somewhere along the way, we stopped knowing how to sit with an idea long enough to understand it.

Crafted Stories is the opposite of that.

For six days, you’ll put real thoughts on real paper. You’ll write, rewrite, and design something that won’t disappear the moment you close the app. Because the things worth saying deserve more than 280 characters.

If you’ve felt that itch (the one that tells you your writing could go deeper if you just had the time and the people) this is where you come.

WHAT YOU’LL ACTUALLY DO HERE

1. Think harder, not louder

You’ll train your critical thinking on social and environmental issues, starting from what you feel. Then you’ll turn it into a fanzine. Something physical. Something that stays.

2. Learn how communication really works

From the first messy idea in your head to the final page someone else reads. Every step matters. We’ll cover them all.

3.Understand writing as a tool to feel better

Creative writing isn’t just art. It’s therapy. It lowers stress, shifts perspective, and helps you see your own life from outside your own head. We’ll show you how.

4. Write like it matters

There’s scroll-writing. And there’s writing that changes something. You’ll learn the difference (alone and with the group) and you’ll practice the second one until it feels natural.

5. Read the world through other cultures

Four other countries. Four other ways of telling stories. You’ll borrow what works and bring it home.

6. Explore the Design what you write

Words are half the job. The other half is how they look. You’ll pick up digital and analogue design skills that work far beyond this week.

WHO WE WANT IN THE ROOM

You’re between 18 and 30 years old.

You write. Maybe not professionally. Maybe not yet. But you write, and you want to get better.

You’re curious about visual arts and storytelling, and you’re the kind of person who makes things happen locally when they come back from something like this.

You’re a legal resident in Italy, Estonia, Croatia, Spain or Germany.

You can hold a conversation in English. Not perfect English. Functional English.

That’s it. Four participants plus one group leader per country. Twenty people total.

If that sounds like you, keep reading.

GOOD TO KNOW

Six working days. 17-24 June 2026. Galicia, Spain.

You’ll sleep at Das Nest, a hostel in the mountains of northwest Spain, surrounded by the kind of forest that makes you want to write about it.
Accommodation and food: covered.

Daily workshops: creative writing, storytelling, visual design, literary culture exchange.

Twenty writers. Five countries. The kind of connections that stick around long after the exchange ends.

GOOD TO KNOW

Applications close soon. Places are limited to four per country, and they fill from the inside out. Friends tell friends, and suddenly the list is done.
If you want to write something that outlives the scroll, now is when you decide.
